Ship-to-shore cranes (STS)
Energy chains with integrated rollers reduce friction and thus minimise wear. The latest version of the igus rol e-chains uses maintenance-free tribopolymer plain bearings to significantly increase service life even further. The new P4HD can also be equipped with smart monitoring sensors. The sensor is integrated into a standard side part of the chain, which means that there are no restrictions on the usable inner width. Our energy chain systems can be installed on any type of ship-to-shore crane, regardless of whether it is a double trolley, shuttle boom or gooseneck crane.

Overhead cranes (RTG / RMG)
igus has been driving change in the cable guidance systems of RTGs for a long time. Today, the energy chain system is a well-established cable guidance system for trolley travels and is used in numerous RTGs worldwide. The heavy-duty 4040(R) HD chain series is preferably used as a sliding or rol e-chain version. The igus chainflex cables with TPE outer jacket have also proven themselves as durable cables in this demanding environment. And if you want to be on the safe side, use the new i.Sense CF.D for continuous condition monitoring of the cable properties.

Automatic stacking cranes (ASC)
The crane operator's workplace is increasingly being moved to the office. Crane automation means that he is responsible for several cranes at the same time. Modern automatic stacking cranes not only require a reliable cable guidance system, but also the ability to communicate the current operating status anywhere and at any time. This is optimised with the new i.Cee dashboard, which can be integrated online on the Internet or on site in the local network. The current operating data can be accessed via a display on the crane, via a cloud solution or an IoT dashboard, via the REST-API interface or directly via SMS or e-mail.

Condition monitoring
Condition monitoring is the easiest and quickest way to turn many igus products into self-monitoring, smart plastics products. Sensors are attached to measure values such as temperature, forces and sound waves/vibrations within pre-defined limits. Values outside the limits result in an alert or a notification. Based on this information, a decision can be made about the next steps (maintenance or shutdown). At igus, we summarise condition monitoring under the term i.Sense.

Predictive maintenance
In contrast, predictive maintenance solutions use sensors and software to create a system that enables dynamic service life calculation and optimal maintenance times. Predictive maintenance is therefore the next step towards the implementation of a comprehensive smart Industry 4.0 system. The aim is always to maximise system and user safety as well as product life. We at igus call our predictive maintenance system i.Cee (derived from "I see ahead").

How does predictive maintenance work at igus?
Only the smart networking of individual components creates the solid foundation for predictive maintenance concepts. At igus, we call our predictive maintenance system i.Cee.

The central element of this system is the i.Cee software. This software, combined with sensors on the energy chain, the plain bearing bushing or a linear carriage, transform stock products into smart products. This upgrade enables you to determine the maximum service life of your igus product and the i.Cee system specifies the perfect time for servicing. Algorithms adjust the service life and service time according to usage. With the software provided by us, a few sensors and the new i.Cee:plus II communication module, standard products available from stock can be turned into smart energy supply systems or bearing technology in no time at all.

Your data does not leave your company network at any time, as the i.Cee software only communicates within the networks of your choice. The information spectrum ranges from a single energy chain within a machine to a complete machine park and its own output interface.

There are two ways to use the internet-based solution: either the sensors transfer their data directly to the cloud, where it is made available in a protected area via a browser dashboard. Or they make an intermediate stop via the i.Cee.net, a so-called data concentrator. The i.Cee.net is located on your premises, allowing you to customise the data exchange to the cloud at any time.
