A central task in the plant for iron alloys is performed by the conveyor belts which transport the raw material to the melt reduction furnaces. The required heat is generated by electrodes in an electro-thermal process. A chemical reaction takes place in the reduction furnace itself – metals and slag are accumulated on the interior and knocked off at regular intervals during operation. Cable management was difficult, resulting in frequent failures. e-chains® from igus® and chainflex® control cables now guarantee smooth day-to-day work here.
